JB is one of the most popular weekend escapes for Singaporeans, and it’s easy to see why. Good food, affordable shopping, family attractions, and just a quick hop across the Causeway or Second Link. If you’re planning a trip and wondering how much a taxi from Singapore to JB actually costs, this guide breaks down every option so you can choose what works best for your group.
There are two main ways to get a taxi across the border: private MPV transfers and licensed cross-border public taxis. Both get you there, but they work very differently, especially when it comes to drop-off points, pricing, and how much flexibility you actually have.
Private Taxi Singapore to JB Price
For families, groups, or anyone who wants a door-to-door transfer without dealing with Larkin Terminal, a private MPV transfer is the better option. With TaxitoJB.SG, we pick you up from any address in Singapore and drop you off at any destination in JB, no mid-journey transfers, no lugging bags through bus terminals.
The other big advantage: you stay seated through both immigration checkpoints. No queuing, no waiting outside with your luggage. Our drivers handle the immigration process, and you remain in the vehicle the whole way through.
Fares are flat and all-inclusive. Tolls, checkpoint fees, and ERP are all covered. There are no hidden charges, and payment is made directly to the driver on the day in SGD, no deposit, no advance payment required.

Cross-Border Public Taxi Singapore to JB Price
Licensed cross-border public taxis operate between Singapore and Johor Bahru on fixed routes. These are generally 4-seater vehicles suited for solo travelers or small groups of up to four. The key thing to know: they only drop you off at Larkin Terminal in JB, so if your destination is elsewhere in JB city, you’ll need to arrange onward transport from there.
The upside is the lower per-person cost, especially if you’re open to sharing the ride with other passengers heading the same way.

From Ban San Street Taxi Terminal
Ban San Street Taxi Terminal is the dedicated cross-border taxi hub in Singapore. You can walk in and get a cab without booking in advance, and it’s the only place where shared taxi (carpooling) is available, bringing the cost down to around SGD 15 per person if you split with others heading to Larkin.
| Pick-Up Location | Destination | Fare Per Car (One Way) |
| Ban San Street Terminal | Larkin Terminal | SGD 60 (or SGD 15 shared) |
The terminal is a short walk from Bugis MRT, Jalan Besar MRT, and Rochor MRT. Buses 170, 48, 57, 130, 851, 851e, 960 and 960e also stop nearby.
One thing to keep in mind: during peak seasons and long weekends, drivers sometimes decline cross-border trips due to heavy traffic at the checkpoints. Always have a backup plan if you’re cutting it close on timing.

Which Option Is Right for You?
Public cross-border taxis work well if you’re traveling solo or as a pair, keeping costs low, and are comfortable with dropping off at Larkin. From there, Grab and local taxis are readily available to get you where you’re going in JB.
Private MPV transfers make more sense for families, larger groups, or anyone traveling with luggage who wants a single, seamless journey from door to door. The price per car stays fixed regardless of group size (up to capacity), so the more people traveling together, the better the value per person.
